Apex Combat is a beat 'em up in the old arcade sense: one plane to walk along, waves of cybernetic enemies arriving from both ends of it, and four attack buttons to clear them with. The 2.5D presentation means you move in a shallow strip of depth rather than a flat line, so stepping out of a swing is a real option. Combos come from chaining the four attacks rather than from memorised inputs, and specials cost a bar you fill by landing hits. Cyberpunk streets, neon, and enemies that eventually stop queuing politely.
